20 May
Mental Health & Speech Language Therapy

The World Health Organization says, "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity".

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness month. It is also Stroke Awareness and Stuttering Awareness month, among others. This month as speech language pathologists (SLPs) we partner with our mental health partners to shine light on overall health.

Communication disorders bring about a variety of emotional, physical and lifestyle changes when diagnosed. SLPs not only treat the disorders but our patients as a whole.

We care for our patients as they navigate new diagnosis, as they learn new strategies, as they experience the lows and highs along their specific journeys.

These journey's typically require the support of multiple professionals in various fields. Therefore, it is important to build a network or team for patients to feel secure in.

At Therapy Pathways we have created a networking group within our community to serve our patients as a whole. Local mental health specialists, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, ABA therapists, psychologists, educators, and physicians within the Wesley Chapel community. A network of care providers that can be trusted to steer patients in the right direction, educate, and support patients along their journey.

If you or someone you love has mental health, speech and language, or other health concerns, reach out to learn more about finding the right team to help the along journey.
